The Lebanon Police Department took Bryan Gann into custody Monday after an officer discovered stolen items during a traffic stop.

Gann was riding with another man when Cpl. Jim Stroud stopped them and got consent to search the vehicle. Stroud found several items connected to recent vehicle burglaries.

Gann, who was out on bond awaiting trial for vehicle burglary charges, confessed to the thefts and led police to more stolen items at his home, according to the department. Detective Brandon Payne said the total value of the items is around $17,500.

The burglaries happened in the West Springs area of Lebanon, according to Payne.

The Lebanon Wilson County Task Force assisted in the investigation and searched the Travel Inn Hotel in connection with the incident. Officers recovered a handgun, drugs and money that are suspected to be connected to the car burglaries as well.

Police believe Gann could have been involved in as many as 20 burglaries in the West Springs area. Gann was charged with three counts of vehicle burglary and police said more charges are pending.

"In each of the burglaries, the doors were left unlocked and often times keys inside. Please remember to lock your doors," police said in a Facebook post about the incident.
