Zimmerman Receives Vol State Ruff Award

GALLATIN — Torrey Zimmerman of Portland was recently honored with the Robert M. Ruff Distinguished Leadership Award during the annual Student Leadership Luncheon at Volunteer State Community College.

Zimmerman has served as the president of the Student Veterans of America chapter at Vol State. The Robert M. Ruff Award is named for retired Professor of History and Political Science, Dr. Robert Ruff. The criteria for the award include dedication, dependability, sensitivity, objectivity and the ability to motivate others.

Volunteer State Community College has more than 90 programs of study and offers two-year degrees, certificates and paths to university transfer.
