The Portland East Middle Lady Panthers fell at home to the White House Lady Devils by a final score of 30-9. The Lady Panthers fell in an early hole in the first quarter, and were not able to dig themselves out. White House had a clear height advantage all night long.
“White House really used their height to their advantage early on and we struggled to deny passing lanes,” head coach Scott Steinbrecher stated.
At the end of the first East found themselves down 15-4, and needed to make some key changes at the half. “White House came ready to play tonight to open their season, my hats off to them in a great performance,” Steinbrecher commented.
At the opening of the second half Madison Hall made a layup and capitalized on a free throw for the three point swing that brought the score to 15-7.
Portland would not be able to come up with much more offense the rest of the night as the game finished out with White House going on a 15-2 run. “ I am really proud of our girls effort tonight, we have a lot of work to do and these girls know that it will take practice and commitment to improve,” Steinbrecher replied.
