A life-long love of cheerleading has come full circle for Haley Barber. Barber, who teaches second grade at Watt Hardison Elementary School, was recently named as the new cheerleader sponsor at Portland High School.

The Portland track team nabbed three, first place spots and eleven additional top ten finishes in the Sumner County School district championships held April 12 at Liberty Creek.
The Portland softball team snapped a nine-game losing streak by defeating county rival Westmoreland 9-3 on April 17. The Lady Panthers pounded out 14 hits and scored three runs in the second and third innings and added a single run in the sixth and two in their final time at bat.
The Portland baseball team won over Lebanon last Friday night. The Panthers took an early lead and never trailed in the contest.
The Portland soccer team continued their winning ways in picking up three victories in recent weeks.
