The Strawberry Festival is an annual tradition that promises to provide entertainment and fun for all ages. This year’s festival, “Boots and Berries,” is on May 10-11, with activities all week prior to the main event.
The festival will kick off with a Strawberry Quilt Show starting Friday, May 3 from 4-8 p.m. at Richland Park gym, followed by hours for the quilts 10-4 p.m. Saturday, May 4. Saturday also brings the Strawberry pageants and the main event of Pro Wrestling Strawberry Slam at Portland High School. Tickets are available at ProWrestlingTIX.com. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the event beginning at 7 p.m.
Tuesday, May 7 brings the Strawberry Golf Tournament at Kenny Perry’s Country Creek Golf Course in Franklin, Ky. Teams of four can play for $600, and begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Sponsorships ranging from $125-$1,000 are available. More information can be found on the festival website.
The well anticipated carnival also begins on Tuesday, May 7 and continues at Richland Park throughout the festival.
For those excited about summer vegetables and other garden items, the Portland Farmer’s Market kicks off the summer season from 3:30-7 p.m. May 8 at Richland Park, in conjunction with the 3rd Annual Strawberry Festival Art Show from 4-7 p.m., also at the park.
Admission to the festival is free and parking is available in many areas around the downtown area, but will fill up fast, so shuttle service is being offered from the Portland High School parking lot and Generation Church.
