On April 12-13, Highland Academy is inviting potential new students and their families to Academy Days.
Highland was established in 1907 to provide education and its mission is to develop Christ-like characters and lifelong learners. Highland sees education as a way to develop students in their spiritual, intellectual, occupational, social and physical life goals.
For parents and students interested in attending Academy Days, registration will begin on Friday from 10-11 a.m. at Ray Hall. The event will allow potential high school students going into grades 9-12 to meet new friends, check out the campus and learning environment and experience what it is like to live in a dorm, where lifelong friends are often made. All attendees must have a sponsor with them for the weekend.
Another exciting activity coming to Highland is Alumni Weekend and Annual Highland-Madison Golf Classic.
The golf classic will be on April 25 at the Hermitage: President’s Reserve Course. Check in begins at 12 p.m. and the shotgun start is at 1 p.m. The cost is $125 per person for early registration and $140 per person the day of the event. Each game will be 18 holes of golf, range balls, and prizes that include ones for 1st and 2nd place, closest to the pin on all par 3s, longest drive, putting contest and hole-in-one contest to win a car.
There are five levels of sponsorship, and all proceeds go toward both the Highland and Madison Academy Worthy Student Scholarship funds. Sponsorship options for this event include:
$10,000 Tournament Sponsorship, which provides the sponsor’s name at the clubhouse. Premier Sponsorship sign at registration, recognition in the HA Alumni magazine and four golfers are included.
$2500 Eagle Sponsorship, which includes name at the registration table, and two, four player student teams.
$1500 Premier Hole Sponsorship that has premier sponsorship signs on two holes and four players are included.
$1000 Lunch Sponsorship, which provides a premier sponsorship sign at the lunch table.
$500 Hole Sponsorship that has the sponsor name on a hole and recognition in the HA Alumni magazine.
For those attending the alumni events, vespers at the Highland SDA church are Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. and church services on April 27 in the church at 11 a.m. The honor classes this year are graduating classes with years ending in 4’s and 9’s. Bring a potluck dish for lunch in the gymnasium for lunch and honor class photos immediately after church.
As always, individual spots for honor class meetings will be posted and the Saturday evening excitement, beginning at 8 p.m. will be the cornhole tournament again this year. Teams of two can compete, so find the winning partner and plan to have bragging rights for the year.
RSVP is available at Highland-academy.com, so if you are interested in finding out more about enrolling your student at Highland, RSVP soon.
